do you long for a place beyond the sky? ~ poem 14/30

Are you lonely as you keep your watch,
A sprite who's bound to the sky?
Does anyone hear your siren song,
Or see when you fall and die?

Do you wish for the masses to notice
The way that you give your all?
In a night so endless, bleak and black,
Do you ever feel too small?

In a blink, would you give your magic
For a place with us below?
Do you ever see us and wonder
Why we must dim our glow?

Do you know that your light is too fierce
So you keep us at arm's length;
Does your brilliance ever pain you?
Do you recognize your strength?

Whose picture is that in your locket;
Did he ever break your heart?
Have you loved and lost in ages past
'Til it was a form of art?

Do you tire of eternal dark
Broken only by the moon?
If I whispered that I loved you
Would you say that it's too soon?
